What are the unique challenges of magnetic sensing keyboards?

Magnetic sensing keyboards have a magnet on each key. Since the strength of the magnet varies with temperature, changes in ambient temperature can affect the accuracy of stroke detection.
Therefore, depending on the usage environment, there may be a discrepancy between the actual key presses and the strokes detected by the software, which can lead to malfunctions and a reduced sense of control.

The choices made for ZENAIM to solve challenges and deliver performance beyond expectations.

To avoid malfunctions caused by temperature changes, there were two options:

  1. Implementing a software correction process that relaxes the detection criteria to ensure the detected stroke amount does not change due to temperature changes. (This method does not activate/deactivate at the set value; instead, the key requires a stroke longer than the set value.)
  2. Implementing a program that corrects for temperature and uses ambient temperature information to determine the stroke amount. (This method ensures that the set activation/deactivation points are always achieved with consistent accuracy relative to the ambient temperature.)

The latter option was chosen for ZENAIM to avoid the effects of temperature changes by incorporating a temperature-detecting component and implementing a temperature correction function.
This allows the keyboard to detect actual operations more accurately, enabling users to achieve the desired operations as intended.
